Basic Crochet Supplies, Patterns and More

You have probably heard this somewhere: Crochet is cheaper than therapy! And it’s true. Basically, all you need is a ball of yarn, a crochet hook and you are ready to go.

Below you will find the essentials I have selected for my shop:

Crochet Essentials

Yarn I stock various weights and fibres suitable for different projects. If you’re just starting, a medium-weight cotton or wool blend is usually the easiest to handle.

Crochet Hook(s) From comfortable ergonomic grips to classic metal hooks. I recommend matching your hook size to your yarn weight—most labels will tell you exactly which size you need.

Additional Supplies

  • Yarn Needle (Darning/Wool/Tapestry needle)Essential for weaving in your loose ends so your work doesn’t unravel. These have blunt tips to avoid splitting the yarn.
  • Scissors A sharp, small pair is best for getting close to your stitches for a clean finish.
  • Tape Measure Useful for checking your “gauge” (the size of your stitches) to ensure your finished project is the right size.
  • Crochet Patterns & Kits I’ve designed these patterns and kits to be straightforward. The kits include the yarn and instructions you need to get a project started without the guesswork.
